Slovak carriers are ready to block the border with Ukraine again
The Union of Road Carriers of Slovakia (UNAS) remains on strike alert. In the absence of any other option to resolve the situation, UNAS is ready to completely block the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint in both directions.
This was reported by the UNAS press service.
Slovak carriers thanked the Minister of Transport of Slovakia Josef Raj for raising the issue of exemption of Ukrainian carriers from the obligation to issue transport permits and the impact of this exemption on road transport in Slovakia at the Council of Transport Ministers in Brussels.
UNAS notes that the Minister of Transport is scheduled to meet with carriers on December 7 to discuss the issue.
At the same time, the carriers are outraged that Western EU countries are not taking the issue seriously, and that EU representatives are demanding that the Slovak government ensure the passability of the borders with Ukraine “in a directive manner, ignoring basic human rights and freedoms.”
