Sisi orders action to maintain reserves of basic foodstuffs
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has ordered action to maintain strategic reserves of basic food commodities.
Sisi, during a meeting Sunday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Supply Minister Ali el Moselhi, also stressed the need to maximize the added value of reserved goods at strategic silos established across Egypt.
This is meant to maintain food security in the country by securing suitable amounts to meet the needs of citizens, the president noted.
The meeting also took up crop cultivation during the current agricultural season, said presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
Minister Moselhi posted Sisi on the number of strategic reserves of wheat, sugar, corn, vegetable oil, and rice, which are sufficient for a period of four to six months, Rady added.
Sisi was also briefed on the nitrogen fertilizer complex in Ain Sukhna, which includes 6 local production and export factories, in a project represented by the global “Thyssen group” company.
Sisi also followed up on a school feeding program that is being implemented during the current academic year, the spokesman added.
