Serbia’s autumn-sown wheat area grows 8.6% in 2024

Serbia put to wheat 590,483 hectares in the autumn last year, up 8.6% compared to 2023, the national statistical office said.
The autumn sowings of barley rose 1.0% to 96,369 hectares last year, while rye sowings declined 1.7% to 4,531 hectares, the statistical office said in a statement earlier this week.
The area put to oats fell 9.0% to 13,040 hectares in 2024, while the area under rapeseed grew 37% to 48,445 hectares.
In 2024, Serbia harvested 2.9 million tonnes of wheat, down 16% compared to 2023.
Further development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV on April 24 in Kyiv.
