Saudi Arabia’s flour mills implement artificial intelligence
First Milling Company (First Mills), one of the leading flour producers in Saudi Arabia, is implementing an artificial intelligence system to manage production and logistics, according to BusinessWire.
The system is the Kelvingrove platform developed by the UK company Kodamai. It operates on autonomous AI agents with mathematically verified decision-making.
The system will be deployed across all four First Mills plants. This is the first industrial-scale application of such technology in Saudi Arabia.
AI agents will manage procurement, supplier relations, inventory control, and product quality in real time. They will also automate part of the processes and reduce workload for employees.
First Mills CFO Alaa Shousha said the company is not simply adopting new technology but building a management system in which every decision can be verified and traced.
“This will enable more efficient supply and production management and strengthen the company’s role in ensuring food security in Saudi Arabia,” he added.
The Kelvingrove platform combines three mathematical approaches:
- Category theory — formalizes the structure of agents, processes, and relationships independently of implementation;
- Type theory — defines a precise interaction format for each agent, preventing errors and enabling verification at every stage;
- Neurosymbolic AI — integrates language models (LLMs) into a controlled process where outputs are validated before use.
As a result, an “agent operating system” is formed, providing higher scalability, built-in governance, and explainability aligned with regulatory requirements.
The developer notes that combining mathematical rigor with scalability allows companies to move from AI testing to full-scale operational deployment.
