Saudi Arabia plans to expand halal poultry exports to Asia via Malaysia

Saudi Arabia’s Tanmiah Food Company and Malaysia’s Tradewinds have agreed to cooperate in the production, processing and distribution of halal poultry products in Malaysia and across the wider Asia-Pacific region.

Under the agreement, the companies will explore exports of Saudi-produced chicken to Malaysia. They will also assess the potential for a joint further-processing facility for poultry meat.

Malaysia is expected to serve as a regional production and export hub for access to other Asian markets. The companies also plan to develop a joint halal protein brand backed by dual halal certification.

In the longer term, cooperation could extend to investments across the poultry value chain, including farms, hatcheries and processing facilities. Financial terms of the potential projects have not been disclosed.

Tanmiah sees Malaysia as one of its key platforms for expanding exports across the Asia-Pacific region. The company plans to strengthen its international presence in the halal protein market and increase exports from Saudi Arabia.
