Russia to harvest at least as much rapeseed as last year
Article author:
Rapeseed plantings totaled a record 1.68 Ml ha. Real-time data on harvest progress as of September 3 show that farmers had harvested 1300 KMT from 673.8 Th ha, UkrAgroConsult reports.
The harvest is ahead of last year, with the current yield level being down more than 10% from 2020. UkrAgroConsult predicts that the latter will not prevent growers from harvesting a record crop.
Hot, dry weather in Central Russia downwardly adjusted the initial yield forecasts for this territory. A particularly disappointing forecast is given for the Volga federal district that could be to some degree outweighed by rapeseed production in Siberia, which saw larger plantings and more favorable weather for yield formation.
In view of a current 30% duty on rapeseed exports outside the EAEU, they are expected to drop in favor of domestic processing with subsequent growth in exportable supplies of rapeseed products.
