Russia imposes restrictions on the export of certain nitrogen fertilizers
From March 21 to April 21, Russia restricted nitrogen fertilizer exports to ensure sufficient supplies for the spring planting season. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture announced this on Tuesday.
Russia is a major producer and exporter of fertilizers, but due to the global shortage caused by the war in Iran and Ukrainian drone attacks, its production capacity is unable to significantly increase volumes this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture announced the suspension of issuance of ammonium nitrate export licenses. New licenses will be issued only under government contracts.
“The suspension of nitrogen fertilizer exports will allow us to focus on meeting domestic market needs during the spring planting season and ensure its smooth operation,” the ministry noted.
