
Russia. Exports by ship and logistics forecast for 2024/25 MY

In 2023/24 MY, Russia exported 73.3 M mt of agricultural commodities via seaports. The average monthly export rate amounted to 6.1 M mt, record monthly shipments were 7.1 M mt in April 2024.
Wheat was the main export commodity. What is more interesting, in 2023/24 MY for the first time Russia became the world’s No. 1 barley exporter, surpassing the EU and Australia.
TOP wheat exporters, 2023/24 season
- Grain Gates Company (established in 2022);
- Trade House RIF
- Aston Company
The total share of the first three exporters amounted to 41%. The export shares by companies were redistributed starting from 2022 and it seems that it was influenced by domestic political factors.
TOP importers of Russian agricultural commodities
- Turkey,
- Egypt,
- Iran,
- Saudi Arabia.
Russia mainly supplied grain to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, with a relatively small share of long-distance exports to China, Indonesia and Bangladesh (up to 10% of total exports).
