Rush in the Black Sea freight market reaching its peak

For charterers, the present situation is badly deteriorating because of a shortage of available vessels in the Black Sea. Although Russian exports have decreased, demand for Handysize tonnage is fueled by regular wheat and corn shipments from Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria.
The gap between charterers’ bid and shipowners’ offer reaches USD 4-5/MT even when short-distance deals are negotiated. Therefore many exporters postpone shipments, UkrAgroConsult reports.
