Romania Leads European Grain Export Rankings with Significant Margin

According to the European Commission, Romania is far ahead in the European grain export rankings. From July 1, 2024, to April 20, 2025, Romania exported 7,199,953.1 tons of grain to external markets.
Data from G4Food.ro indicates that soft wheat exports to markets outside the European Union reached 4,732,932.7 tons, with a total value of €1,074,222,797.
The leading buyer of Romanian grain was Egypt, purchasing 818,903.8 tons (€190,070,986), followed by Saudi Arabia (805,813.3 tons) and Jordan (517,292.3 tons, €116,699,853).
Barley exports totaled 1,603,408.4 tons, valued at €303,137,889. The primary buyer was Saudi Arabia, with 533,323.4 tons worth €97,121,892. Jordan ranked second with 181,577.2 tons, and Kuwait third with 118,207 tons (€21,939,784).
Corn exports amounted to 862,782.1 tons, with a financial value of €221,619,292. The largest share was sent to Turkey (224,069.3 tons, €50,688,170), followed by Israel (215,018.6 tons, €45,688,868) and Lebanon (133,758.9 tons, €28,348,403).
Romania is followed in the European grain export rankings by France, Germany, Lithuania, and Poland.
