Romania builds new highway to Ukraine border
Romania is building a new highway to the border with Ukraine, which will provide Ukraine with additional access to the EU countries bypassing Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. This was reported by the Romanian newspaper Ziarul de Vrancea.
Romanian media report that the highway is being built in an emergency mode: about 3000 workers and hundreds of vehicles are working around the clock, 7 days a week.
Romania is working on the construction of the “Moldovan highway”, which is planned to stretch from Bucharest to the border with Ukraine. It will run along the route: Buzeu, Focşani, Bacău, Roman, Pasşcani and Suceava, connecting with the Ukrainian road M 19 near Seret. According to media reports, the project currently involves thousands of workers and hundreds of pieces of equipment. This road is important for Ukraine, it will create an opportunity to get a new European transportation corridor.
In addition, this highway can give Ukraine access to Romanian ports and create an alternative route to the EU countries, bypassing Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. The highway is being built by Romanian and EU funds.
