Robert Kennedy Jr. says Trump has “ended the war on saturated fats”
U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. made an unusual statement praising President Donald Trump, saying he has not only helped end several military conflicts around the world but has also brought an end to what he described as the “war on saturated fats.” According to Kennedy, Washington’s long-standing policy of discouraging saturated fats was misguided.
“This is a peacetime president. He has made eight and a half deals to end wars, and he’s also ending the war on saturated fats,” Kennedy Jr. said, highlighting what he portrayed as Trump’s role in both international diplomacy and domestic policy shifts.
The remarks came amid the release of new federal dietary guidelines by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The updated recommendations mark a departure from the traditional food pyramid by placing greater emphasis on whole dairy products, proteins and so-called healthy fats, easing previous restrictions on saturated fats.
Kennedy Jr. has previously argued that the United States needs to rethink decades-old dietary advice and formally abandon the “war on saturated fats.” He said the new approach is intended to improve public health by encouraging the consumption of less processed and more nutrient-dense foods.
