Supplies reached a historic high amid robust demand from China.

Brazil continues to strengthen its position as the world’s largest soybean exporter: strong external demand, primarily from China, drove record shipments to the industry at the beginning of the year.

According to the Center for Advanced Studies in Agribusiness Economics (Cepea), despite pressure from significant domestic supply, a weakening national currency, and falling domestic prices, strong export performance supported the sector’s profitability.

From January to April, soybean exports totaled 40.24 million tonnes, the highest level ever recorded for this period.

In April, Brazil exported 16.75 million tonnes of soybeans, also setting a record, according to statistics from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex). This figure increased by 15.35% compared to March and by 9.6% compared to April 2025.

Shipments to China also saw a significant increase: exports to this destination increased by 17.6% over the month. China remains the key driver of external demand for Brazilian soybeans.

Overall, the high level of shipments since the beginning of the year has confirmed the stability of the export flow, which offsets domestic price fluctuations and ensures stable revenue for the country’s agricultural sector.
