Rapeseed supplies from Moldova in the current season decreased 3.4 times
During the first 3 months of the 2024/2025 season (July-September), 62,082 tons of rapeseed were exported from Moldova, which is 3.4 times less compared to the same period last year, Moldovan industry portal Agroexpert.md reports.
The reason for this decrease is the low harvest, as well as forecasts of higher prices, which make farmers reluctant to decide to sell, according to Moldovan agro-market expert Iurie Rizha.
The rapeseed market is currently characterized by low activity: farmers are reluctant to sell, while buyers are also not very active due to the decrease in international demand. In Bulgaria, the processing plant in Ruse has already accumulated stocks of rapeseed in August, and the next major purchases are expected to start.
As for rapeseed export destinations in the period from July to September 2024, the first two remained unchanged – Romania (42,546 tons), followed by Bulgaria (8,202 tons). At the same time, as the analyst notes, the countries where large volumes were exported in previous seasons – Holland, Greece, Nepal, Turkey, Bangladesh, etc. – have disappeared from the list of destinations.
