Qatar announces major tender for feed barley
The Qatar Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has announced a tender for the supply of 2.4 mln bags of barley, which will be a key measure to support the livestock sector and develop the agricultural economy. Applications will be accepted on August 25, 2025, through the government procurement portal.
Barley is a key component of livestock feed due to its high content of carbohydrates, protein and fiber. The large-scale purchase should provide farmers with a stable supply of high-quality feed, especially during periods of peak demand, and thereby improve farm efficiency and food sustainability.
According to Mordor Intelligence, the Qatari agricultural market will grow from $180.3 mln in 2025 to $235.3 mln by 2030, reflecting the country’s focus on economic diversification and reducing dependence on hydrocarbons.
The purchase will create additional opportunities for international suppliers and logistics companies, strengthening Qatar’s position in the global agricultural trading system.
