Protest on the Polish-Ukrainian border: Tusk accuses Morawiecki’s government of inaction
Polish prime ministerial candidate Donald Tusk accused the government headed by Mateusz Morawiecki of inaction in the situation with the blockade of checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The politician said this on the sidelines of the Polish Sejm, PAP reports.
During the conversation with Tusk, journalists noted that his government will face the problem of protests at the border in two weeks. The leader of the Civic Coalition replied that he would solve it “not in two weeks”.
“For example, today I am meeting with experts and those politicians who will deal with these issues,” the politician said.
Speaking about the appointment of the new government of Prime Minister Moravetsky, Tusk noted that “since they pretend to have appointed a real government, they could also pretend to deal with real problems.”
“Such inaction is inexcusable, because in this way we jeopardize Polish-Ukrainian relations and do not care about Polish interests,” the Civic Coalition leader emphasized.
The politician pointed out: “This government puts us all in a very difficult situation. The Law and Justice party, Morawiecki and Kaczynski have fatally, very amateurishly, unprofessionally and cynically played the Ukrainian card.”
“At the beginning, when it was appropriate, they demonstrated a radically pro-Ukrainian position, completely forgetting about Polish interests,” Tusk emphasized.
The leader of the Civic Coalition explained that “Ukraine should be lived in friendship and support, but at the same time, Polish interests should not be neglected.”
“They completely neglected it, and when they realized that it made people angry, they started playing the anti-Ukrainian card, and later turned away from the problem on the border,” Tusk added.
Earlier, Polish President Andrzej Duda took the oath of office from Morawiecki and approved the new government formed by the pro-government minority.
Before that, Civic Coalition MP Marcin Kierwinski said that the opposition, which has a majority in the Sejm, had fully formed the government of prime ministerial candidate Donald Tusk.
