Protest in Israel against import of allegedly stolen Ukrainian grain
A protest was held in Israel against the import of grain that activists claim was stolen from Ukraine. Organizers from Israeli Friends of Ukraine said that, due to the position of the Ukrainian embassy, diplomatic efforts, media coverage, and public pressure, a vessel carrying such cargo did not enter the port of Haifa.
“Today we can rejoice at least a little: thanks to the persistent position of the Ukrainian Embassy, diplomatic work, wide publicity in the press and pressure from the public sector in Israel and internationally, there is already the first result – the ship did not enter the port of Haifa. We will continue to demand transparency of supplies. It is important to understand: some might have already thought that the struggle was over. But this is not so – it continues. We need to continue educational activities and talk about the fact that grain, obtained at such a price and with the pain of the Ukrainian people, cannot be a subject of trade.”
