Production and consumption of red corn in Cambodia is on the rise
Production of red corn for feed in Cambodia is on the rise. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (Maff), corn production has increased to 1.7 million tons in 2024 from 1.5 million tons last year, with domestic consumption reversed due to increased demand for animal feed.
However, overall production seems to be slowing down due to difficult conditions caused by hot weather and water shortages. The provinces of Battambang, Pailin, Tbong Khum, Banteay Meanchey, Kampong Cham, Kratie, Preah Vihea and Kandal lead the way in red corn production.
