Port of Constanta shipped a record volume of grain in 10 months of 2023
According to the administration of the Romanian port of Constanta, in the first 10 months of this year the port shipped a record 29.4 million tons of grain, of which 40% are shipments from Ukraine.
In particular, during January-October, Ukraine shipped 11.7 million tons of grain through the port of Constanta against 8.6 million tons for the whole of 2022. It is noted that the volume of Ukrainian grain transit has decreased in recent months as Russia has repeatedly struck Danube ports. Ukraine. In addition, the situation was aggravated by the blocking of Ukraine’s border with Poland by Polish carriers.
Constanta’s previous historical annual maximum was just over 25 million tons. Currently, Constanta’s logistical capacity is estimated at 40 million tons of grain per year.
