Polish farmers will block exports of Ukrainian goods by rail for the first time
Polish farmers have announced that they plan to block the transshipment of Ukrainian agricultural products at Izov station.
This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
“According to information from the Polish side, local farmers have announced their intention to prevent the transshipment of Ukrainian agricultural goods from rail to road transport and their movement to terminals at the Chrubieszów-Vladimir-Volynskyi checkpoint (Izov station) starting from February 9,” the statement said.
The farmers have also blocked the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint. About 100 people and about 50 vehicles are blocking the traffic.
State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko told Ukrayinska Pravda that the protests of Polish farmers on Friday also hampered traffic through the Hrebenne-Rava-Ruska and Dorohusk-Yahodyn checkpoints.
As previously reported, Polish farmers will block all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The Polish independent farmers’ trade union Solidarity decided to launch a general strike, the reason being “Brussels’ decision to import agricultural products from Ukraine and the passivity of the Polish government.”
