Polish company to help Egypt build grain silos
Egypt has partnered with the Polish firm Feerum S.A. to establish the joint venture Feerum Egypt, which will locally manufacture grain storage silos. The initiative, announced by Egypt’s Ministry of Supply and Foreign Trade, aims to strengthen national food security and promote industrial localization. The venture also involves the Egyptian construction company Samcrete Egypt.
Over the next three years, Feerum Egypt plans to produce up to 80% of silo components locally. The project will provide equipment for a total storage capacity of 1.4 million tonnes of grain, with potential for exporting surplus production. The construction of around 50 new silos across 17 governorates will raise Egypt’s total grain reserves to 6 million tonnes, enhancing supply chain stability and reducing post-harvest losses.
