The peak frosts of recent weeks will not have a critical impact on the harvest of winter crops in Ukraine. The condition of crops is controlled, and in some regions only partial re-sowing is possible.

According to the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky, in the fall, farmers sowed more than 5 million hectares of winter grains and more than 1 million hectares of rapeseed. Currently, comprehensive monitoring of the condition of crops is underway, in particular, sampling for laboratory tests is being carried out.

According to preliminary monitoring results, no significant damage to winter crops has been recorded. Partial re-sowing is possible in some farms in the central and southeastern regions, where a deficit of snow cover or the formation of an ice crust was observed. At the same time, the situation is not nationwide. Final conclusions on the condition of crops are planned to be formed in late February – early March after summarizing data from all regions.

The situation in vegetable growing also remains positive. According to preliminary estimates, vegetable production in the summer-autumn period of 2025 increased by 20–25% compared to the previous year. This made it possible to form sufficient stocks of products and reduce dependence on imports in 2026.

The ministry notes that a sharp increase in prices for borscht set products is not expected in the near future. Only a traditional seasonal increase in prices in the spring is possible, associated with storage costs. Record price jumps similar to previous years are not predicted.

It is also noted that state regulation of prices for basic social products – bread, dairy products, oil and sugar – is maintained for the period of martial law.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that state regulation of prices for basic socially significant products, in particular bread, dairy products, oil and sugar, continues to operate during the period of martial law in Ukraine.

In addition, to support businesses, the preferential lending program for the purchase of energy equipment is maintained. Entrepreneurs can receive loans at 0% annual interest in the amount of up to UAH 10 million for a term of up to three years to purchase generators and other necessary equipment.
