Papua New Guinea to Revive Oil Palm Industry
Papua New Guinea is poised to revive its oil palm industry. The government has unveiled strategic plans to strengthen the sector and ensure its long-term sustainability. Oil Palm Minister Francis Maneke made the announcement in a recent speech, as quoted by the African publication Posr Courier.
Speaking at the University of Papua yesterday, Minister Maneke, along with key stakeholders, highlighted the industry’s critical role in growing the country’s economy and improving the livelihoods of rural communities.
He said the oil palm industry had been an important part of the country’s agricultural landscape for over 50 years and was now under the government’s watchful eye.
He praised Prime Minister James Marape and his administration for positioning oil palm as a central element of the country’s economic agenda, calling it “the commodity that will move Papua New Guinea forward,” and pledged to expand its oil production and presence in global markets.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
