Pakistan’s rice exports fall 32% in July–August, overall food exports down 23%
Rice exports from Pakistan were recorded at 545,403 metric tons during the first two months (July-August) of the current financial year, as compared to 616,744 metric tons exported during the same period last year.
The exports of rice registered negative growth of 32.34% during the period under review as compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
In the last two months of the current financial year, 443,469 metric tons of rice other than Basmati rice, worth $207.094 million, were exported, compared to 430,071 metric tons valued at $272.057 million in the same period last year.
The overall food group exports from the country during the period under review decreased by 23.46% compared to the same period last year. Food commodities worth $774.557 million were exported during the period, as compared to $1.011 billion in the corresponding period last year.
