Pakistan: Wheat, flour prices witness sharp increase after sugar hike

After sugar, the prices of wheat and flour have also suddenly soared, placing a fresh burden of inflation on the public. According to the report from Karachi, the price of wheat has surged from Rs 55 to Rs 72 per kilogram, while flour rates have also witnessed a sharp increase. In the wholesale market, the price of Dahai Number flour has risen by Rs15 per kilo, while fine flour has gone up by Rs9 per kilo. As a result, Dahai Number flour is now being sold at Rs 81 per kilo and fine flour at Rs 87 per kilo in wholesale. The Chairman of the Wholesale Grocers Association has urged the government to immediately take notice of this surge in wheat and flour prices.
Previously, Dahai Number flour was available at Rs66 and fine flour at Rs78 per kilo in wholesale markets. In the retail sector, prices have also climbed. Dahai Number flour has increased by Rs6 per kilo, and fine flour by Rs8 per kilo. Consequently, Dahai Number flour now stands at Rs 110 per kilo, while fine flour has soared to Rs 120 per kilo.
