Orlivka-Isaccea crossing turns into a port on the Danube

In December 2022, a river cargo terminal was launched near the Orlivka-Isaccea ferry crossing, which connects the Ukrainian and Romanian banks of the Danube. Since then, about 60 thousand tons of cargo have been handled here.
Yuriy Dimchoglo, one of the investors and initiators of the ferry and port, told this in an interview with CFTS.
According to him, the first vessel called at the terminal in early December. “From December to February, the terminal handled about 60 thousand tons of cargo. In December 2022, we transshipped 12 thousand tons, in January 2023 – 20 thousand tons, and in February – 28 thousand tons,” the businessman said, adding that in March it is planned to reach 30 thousand tons or even more. Currently, the main nomenclature is grain cargo.
According to information provided by Dimchoglo, about EUR 2 million has already been invested in the development of the terminal. A 220 m long and 7 m deep berth was built next to the ferry crossing.
This berth is included in the Register of Hydraulic Engineering Structures of Ukraine, and a contract has been signed with Delta Pilot for the navigation of vessels to the berth. The status of a river port has already been granted by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Currently, an application has been submitted to the USPA to obtain the status of a sea terminal. Yuriy Dimchoglo expressed hope that this status could be obtained in April.
