Oilseeds processing volumes in the EU increased by 11%
According to Fediol, in October this year, oilseed processing volumes in the EU increased by 11% compared to a month earlier, reaching 3.32 million tons, up from 2.91 million tons last year.
In particular, rapeseed processing reached 1.69 million tons (1.55 million tons in September; 1.68 million tons in October 2023), soybeans 1.07 (1.02; 0.75) million tons, and sunflower 554 (425; 484) thousand tons.
The total volume of oilseeds processing in the EU since the beginning of 2024 reached 33.04 million tons with processing capacity of 38.8 million tons compared to 31.45 million tons in January-October 2023, including rapeseed – 16.54 (15.92) million tons, soybean – 11.53 (11.28) million tons, sunflower – 4.96 (4.26) million tons.
As it became known earlier, in the current season the EU has significantly increased the total volume of imports of oilseeds and reduced oil imports. The volume of rapeseed imports from the beginning of the season to November 10 amounted to about 222 thousand tons, which is 15% more than last year’s figures, the volume of soybean imports amounted to about 4.43 million tons, which is 7% more.
