Novorossiysk partially resumes grain exports
Russia’s port of Novorossiysk has partially resumed grain shipments after a prolonged shutdown caused by attacks on port infrastructure in August. During the first 20 days of October, the port exported just 59.6 thsd tons of grain, compared to 1.7 mln tons in the same period last year. Thus, shipments reached only 3.5% of last year’s level. The port’s key grain terminals, including NZT, NKHP and KSK, suspended operations on August 12.
Despite the resumption of shipments, operations at Russia’s largest Black Sea grain export hub remain severely restricted. War-related risks are limiting vessel calls and complicating the recovery of export logistics. Meanwhile, even a partial recovery in shipments could support domestic grain purchase prices, as port activity directly affects demand from traders. In mid-October, wheat purchase prices in southern Russia increased by approximately RUB 600/t (around $7/t) in one week.
