No WASDE Report Tomorrow

The release of the October World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, originally scheduled for October 9, has been canceled due to the suspension of U.S. federal government funding. A notice on the official website of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) states: “Due to the Radical Left Democrat shutdown, this government website will not be updated during the funding lapse.”
The message also says that President Donald Trump “wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people.” The language reflects the deepening political polarization in the United States, which has now extended even to the communication of government agencies.
If Congress approves temporary funding, the WASDE report could be released later in October. Until then, analysts expect increased volatility in global grain and oilseed markets due to the absence of official USDA data.
