The agricultural division of NIBULON LLC recently began the spring sowing campaign for spring crops.

This year, spring sowing will cover an area of 36,000 hectares, which is in line with the areas sown last year (37,000 hectares), according to the company’s press service.

“As in the previous season, NIBULON’s flagship crop for 2025 will be corn. Additionally, we are doubling the area for soybeans and halving the area for sunflowers. This is due to price expectations for grain commodities this year and the forecast for better economic results. We are using seeds carefully, with sowing norms for corn at 55-70 thousand seeds per hectare, soybeans at 350-500 thousand per hectare, and sunflowers at 45 thousand per hectare (Mykolaiv region). Specifically, 800 tons of our own soybean seeds have been prepared for sowing,” the company clarified.

It was also noted that sunflower sowing, which is starting earlier than planned due to rising temperatures and soil moisture shortages, began in the Mykolaiv cluster.

“After April 12, we plan to start corn sowing in Cherkasy and Podillia. Under favorable conditions, the company’s farmers expect to complete the sowing process by mid-May. There is the technical capacity to sow 2-2.5 thousand hectares per day during productive days,” added NIBULON.

Oleg Veselov, the Director of Agricultural Production at NIBULON, noted that soil moisture in the regions where the company operates is insufficient, but they are hopeful for rainfall in April and May. Therefore, the company expects a gross harvest of spring crops as follows: corn – 180,000 tons, soybeans – 25,000 tons, and sunflowers – 70,000 tons.

“Note: Winter crops in Mykolaiv region are in good and satisfactory condition,” the company concluded.

Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
