New rules for labeling fruits and vegetables will be introduced in Poland from February 17
From February 17, 2026, new requirements for the labeling of fresh vegetables, fruits and bananas will come into force in Poland. According to the order of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of November 4, 2025, the key change will be the mandatory placement of a graphic image of the flag of the country of origin next to products sold by weight. The responsibility for the correct labeling at points of sale lies with retailers.
This is reported by PortalSpozywczy.pl.
“When selling vegetables and fruits, the consumer must have easy access to information about the country of origin, product class, size, variety and commercial type,” the publication notes, citing IJHARS.
In addition to the graphic image of the flag for weighted goods, each package must contain the name and address of the packer or sender, the name of the product (if it is not visible from the outside) and the full name of the country of origin. For goods subject to specific trade standards, the indication of the quality class, variety name and caliber remains mandatory.
