The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine is considering the possibility of adding the Mykolaiv Sea Commercial Port to the “grain corridor” for the export of grain but it all depends on the security situation in the region.

“We’ll soon start consultations. We really want to do it (shipment of Ukrainian grain – ed.) with the port of Mykolaiv – it’s very important.

This port wasn’t considered during the first phase of the export preparations due to active fighting in the Mykolaiv region but we are not forgetting anything and we will work on it,” the Minister said.

Kubrakov said that currently two sea ports are ready for the export of grain – Odesa and Chornomorsk. Within the course of this week Pivdennyi [formerly Yuzhny] port will open as well.

“As early as this week we will be dispatching vessels as well as accepting vessels that will be entering our ports. We hope that Pivdennyi port will also be ready by the end of this week,” he added.

The first vessel to have left the Odesa port and which is now going through the “grain corridor” will arrive in Istanbul on 2 August at 15:00.

The vessel RAZONI under the Sierra-Leone flag loaded with 26 tonnes of Ukrainian corn left the Odesa port on the morning of 1 August.
