Ministry of Agriculture of Canada raised its forecasts for the grain harvest in 2024/25 MY
In the March report, the experts of the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) raised the forecast of wheat production in the country in 2024/25 MY by 0.7 mln tonnes to 34.6 mln tonnes (32 mln tonnes in 2023/24 MY), domestic consumption by 0.2 mln tonnes to 9.3 mln tonnes (8.6 mln tonnes), exports to 24.6 mln tonnes (23.5 mln tonnes) and ending stocks to 4.4 mln tonnes (3.6 mln tonnes). In particular, the forecast for durum wheat production was raised by 0.3 to 5.7 (4) million tons, exports – by 0.1 to 4.5 (3.2) million tons, and ending stocks – by 0.1 to 0.8 (0.5) million tons.
The forecast for barley production was raised by 0.2 to 9.5 (8.9) million tons, and ending stocks by 0.2 to 1.3 (1) million tons.
The forecast for corn production was also increased by 0.6 to 14.9 (15.1) million tons, domestic consumption by 0.3 to 15.1 (15.7) million tons, and ending stocks by 0.3 to 2.2 (1.9) million tons.
At the same time, the forecast of canola production in 2024/25 MY was decreased by 0.3 to 18.1 (17.9) mln tonnes. At the same time, domestic consumption will amount to 0.9 mln tonnes, and ending stocks – 1.7 mln tonnes.
