Milk production in Ukraine down 6% – AMP

In January-October 2021, milk production in Ukraine decreased by 6%, to 7.528 million tonnes, Ukrinform reports, referring to the Association of Milk Producers (AMP).
“This was due to a significant drop in production by private households,” the association said, adding that the ratio of industrial and milk production by private households over the reporting period totaled 30.6% to 69.4%.
Agricultural enterprises produced almost 2.307 million tonnes of milk, which is 0.6% less compared with last year. The largest increase in milk production was recorded in Ternopil region (+ 13.9%; 97.6 thousand tonnes), Kherson region (+10.1%; 41.5 thousand tonnes) and Vinnytsia region (+5.9%; 187.8 thousand tonnes).
Private households also decreased milk production – to almost 5.223 million tonnes, which is 7.2% less from the same period last year. The largest decrease of milk production by private households was recorded in Kharkiv region (down 20.6%; 160.6 thousand tonnes), Cherkasy region (down 14.2%; 120.2 thousand tonnes) and Kherson region (down 13.6%; 165.7 thousand tonnes).
