Malaysia’s palm oil reserves are growing

According to Oil World (Germany), in April 2025 they increased by 300 thousand tons, reaching 1.87 million tons. This was a result of high production rates and a decrease in exports.
Palm oil production in the country in April amounted to 1.69 million tons, which is 12% more than in March (1.50 million tons). The main contribution was made by the regions of Sabah and Sarawak, which together produced more than 740 thousand tons. At the same time, domestic consumption of oil decreased, which further contributed to the accumulation of stocks.
Exports in April decreased to 1.10 million tons, which is 11% less than in the previous month and 13% lower than in April 2024 (1.75 million tons). In January-April 2025, Malaysia exported 4.28 million tons compared to 4.94 million tons in the same period in 2024 due to low demand, particularly from India. However, experts expect exports to recover due to competitive prices and reduced supplies of other vegetable oils.
