Maersk revises container freight rates between Ukraine, Gdansk and Constanta
Danish shipping company Maersk will introduce revised container freight rates for block train services between Ukrainian terminals and the European ports of Gdansk in Poland and Constanta in Romania from November 1, 2026. The new rates will apply to standard dry cargo transported in 20-foot and 40-foot containers. Depending on the route and container size, export freight rates to Gdansk will range from $2,000 to $3,200.
For routes to the Polish port of Gdansk, export rates for 20-foot containers will range from $2,200 to $3,000, depending on the departure terminal. The lowest rate will apply to shipments from Mostyska at $2,200, followed by Ternopil at $2,400. Shipments from Kyiv, Klevan and Vinnytsia will cost $2,600, while those from Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv will be charged $3,000 per container.
For 40-foot containers, freight rates to Gdansk will range from $2,000 to $3,200. The rate from Mostyska will be $2,000, from Ternopil — $2,400, and from Kyiv, Klevan and Vinnytsia — $2,600. The highest rate of $3,200 will apply to shipments from Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv. Transport costs will therefore depend primarily on the location of the Ukrainian terminal and the container type.
On the route between Chernivtsi and the Romanian port of Constanta, the export rate will be $2,400 for a 20-foot container and $2,000 for a 40-foot container. For import shipments from Constanta to Chernivtsi, a flat rate of $2,400 will apply regardless of container size. This route remains one of the container logistics options available to Ukrainian shippers through Romanian port infrastructure.
Maersk’s base rates will include container handling at inland terminals, rail transportation, certain station charges, transport documentation and T1 registration. Additional services, including first- and last-mile delivery, will be charged separately. The new import rates will apply to bookings for which the Delivery Order is received on or after November 1, 2026, while the export rates will apply to shipments for which the equipment release is issued on or after that date.
