Maersk raises container freight rates from Ukraine to Gdańsk

Maersk will increase export rail container freight rates between terminals in Ukraine and Gdańsk DCT in Poland from October 1, 2026. Import rates will remain unchanged.

Under the new tariff schedule, rates for 20-foot containers will range from $1,600 to $2,100 depending on the departure terminal, while 40-foot container rates will range from $1,800 to $2,600.

The largest increase will apply to routes from Ternopil and Kyiv. The rate for a 40-foot container will rise from $1,800 to $2,200, or by $400, while the 20-foot rate will increase from $1,800 to $2,000.

From Mostyska, the rate will increase from $1,400 to $1,600 for a 20-foot container and from $1,500 to $1,800 for a 40-foot container. For Dnipro-Lisky, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv, rates will rise to $2,100 and $2,600, respectively.

The higher rates will increase costs for Ukrainian exporters using rail-container routes through Poland and the port of Gdańsk to ship cargo to foreign markets.
