Lebanon interested in importing Ukrainian agricultural products

Ukraine and Lebanon are strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector to ensure stable supplies of Ukrainian agricultural products, enhance food security, and expand bilateral trade.

The agreement was reached during an online meeting between the leadership of Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food and the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Lebanon, according to the ministry’s press service.

“Ukraine has always been and remains a reliable guarantor of global food security. Despite Russia’s full-scale invasion, systematic attacks on agricultural infrastructure, and threats to navigation in the Black Sea, we continue to fulfill our commitments to our partners. Recognizing the critical importance of Ukrainian grain for Lebanon, we are ready to take all necessary measures to ensure regular and uninterrupted supplies,” said Ukraine’s Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Taras Vysotskyi.

Lebanon’s Minister of Agriculture, Nizar Hani, reaffirmed his country’s interest in regular imports of Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products.

Traditionally, Ukraine supplied about 80% of Lebanon’s wheat imports and remains a key supplier of sunflower oil and corn. Russia’s aggression, the blockade of ports, and threats to maritime navigation have disrupted established trade routes and increased logistics costs, making stable deliveries of Ukrainian grain critically important for Lebanon’s food security.

Following the talks, the two sides agreed to resume the work of the Joint Ukrainian-Lebanese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Its activities are expected to facilitate bilateral trade, address logistical and organizational issues, expand the range of Ukrainian products available on the Lebanese market, and develop reliable supply routes.
