Kernel reports significant sunflower oil losses after attack on terminal in Odesa region
Kernel’s infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa region sustained significant damage following a Russian drone attack on the morning of July 14. The company disclosed the information in a statement published on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
“The attack caused a fire and severely damaged most of the sunflower oil storage facilities, as well as the terminal’s transshipment infrastructure,” the company said.
As a result of the attack, a significant volume of sunflower oil stored at the terminal was lost, including oil owned by third parties.
Kernel added that due to the prolonged fire and lengthy firefighting operations, it is currently impossible to accurately assess the total extent of the damage. The full impact of the attack on the company’s operations and financial performance is still being evaluated.
Earlier, following massive Russian attacks on the port of Chornomorsk on the nights of July 10–11 and July 11–12, Kernel’s port assets also suffered extensive damage. According to the company’s preliminary estimate, around 45 thsd tons of wheat and 9 thsd tons of sunflower oil were blocked, lost, or suffered quality deterioration due to the destruction.
