Kazakhstan will introduce an export duty on sunflower in the amount of 100 euros per ton
To limit the export of sunflower seeds through the introduction of an export duty of 20% of the value of the cargo, but not less than 100 euros per ton, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan proposes. At the moment, export prices for Kazakh sunflower seeds for the countries of Central Asia (DAP Saryagash) are about $530.
The fee is expected to be introduced within two weeks. At the same time, there are no plans to limit the export of sunflower oil.
The Ministry of Trade believes that this measure will increase the loading of oil refineries and increase the export of processed agricultural products. At the end of 2021, Kazakhstan exported 148 thousand tons of sunflower seeds. The main volumes fell on China (38%) and Uzbekistan (35%).
In 2021, 60 thousand tons of sunflower oil were exported, of which 47% went to Uzbekistan, 40% to Tajikistan.
