Kazakhstan to adjust its cropping pattern
According to the Ag Ministry of Kazakhstan, the country’s crop planted area will expand to 22.7 Ml ha (+86.4 Th ha from 2020), UkrAgroConsult reports.
According to the forecast pattern, it is planned to sow more oilseeds, feed crops, vegetable and melon crops, buckwheat and sugar beet at the expense of reducing single-crop systems and moisture-consuming crops (wheat, rice, and cotton):
– wheat – 12.035 Ml ha (-134 Th ha from last year);
– buckwheat – 77.2 Th ha (+19.8 Th ha);
– feed crops – 3.339 Ml ha (+98 Th ha);
– oilseeds – 2.9 Ml ha (+2 Th ha);
– vegetable and melon crops – 280.4 Th ha (+16 Th ha);
– sugar beet – 21.8 Th ha (+0.9 Th ha).
