Kazakhstan sharply increases grain sales abroad

As of June 1, 2025, the volume of wheat on the domestic market amounted to 7.3 million tons. This is 16.4% more than the same date last year.
Of these, food wheat – 6.5 million tons (+36.6%), seed – 436.7 thousand tons (-19%), feed – 408.4 thousand tons (-2.5 times).
At the same time, exports in January-May of this year immediately increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year, to 3.2 million tons. Suppliers earned $652.2 million on grain.
The main buyer remained Uzbekistan, where 1.3 million tons of wheat were sent (+19.3%).
Large volumes of grain were also sent to Tajikistan – 498.7 thousand tons (+26%), Italy – 292.5 thousand tons (+1.5 times), Afghanistan – 103 thousand tons (+1.8 times), Kyrgyzstan – 101.2 thousand tons (+26.6 times).
In addition, the list of buyers included Azerbaijan – 468.8 thousand tons, Morocco – 158.6 thousand tons, Algeria – 90.4 thousand tons, Georgia – 64.1 thousand tons. In January-May last year, there were no deliveries to these countries.
Small batches of grain were also sent to Turkmenistan, Belgium, Vietnam, Denmark, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, China, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, the UAE, Poland, Portugal, Turkey, Russia.
But wheat imports decreased by 5.5 times, to 212.7 thousand tons. Almost the entire volume came from Russia (209.3 thousand tons). A small amount of grain was imported from European countries and China.
