Kazakhstan lifts ban on wheat imports from January 1

On January 1, the ban on wheat imports to Kazakhstan expires, reported in the Ministry of Agriculture of the republic.
“From August 21 to December 31, 2024, a ban on the import of wheat into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RK) from third countries and from the EAEU countries by all means of transport, except for the transit of wheat through the territory of Kazakhstan. Thus, from January 1, 2025 expires the ban on wheat imports to Kazakhstan and imports will be carried out without restrictions,” – stated in the message of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The ministry added that the issue of introducing any non-tariff measures to regulate imports of wheat will be decided taking into account the situation in the grain market, in particular: the stock of grain, the level of demand and supply in the market, the need to protect the interests of domestic producers and the need to take measures to combat “gray” imports and illegal re-export schemes, as well as circumstances in the world grain market.
