Kazakhstan expands direct purchase program to sunseed and linseed
Kazakhstan’s state grain corporation has announced an expansion of its direct purchase program for the 2025–2026 season. Sunseed, linseed, and buckwheat have been added to the list of procured crops. The aim of the expansion is to involve more farmers and support diversification of crop cultivation.
The direct purchase program is intended to replenish the state grain reserve and build the feedstock fund. In total, the corporation manages around 2 million tons of grain, including 500,000 tons in the state reserve and 200,000 tons in the feed fund. Maintaining these reserves helps smooth seasonal and price fluctuations, prevent domestic shortages, and ensure stable raw material supply for socially important food production.
The program guarantees farmers a fair price for their crops without intermediaries. This helps maintain farm profitability and allows producers to plan future development, while the state can support market stability.
Corporation representatives also note that the initiative promotes a transparent market, stimulates agricultural sector development, and strengthens the country’s food security, benefiting both the economy and the population.
Further development of the grain and oilseed markets of Ukraine and the Black Sea region will be in the spotlight of the BLACK SEA GRAIN. KYIV conference, taking place on April 22–23 in Kyiv. The event will focus on strategic directions for the agricultural sector through 2030, including investments, energy independence, processing, and exports of high-value products.
