Kazakhstan considers Montenegro’s Port of Bar for grain exports to Europe

Kazakhstan is exploring the possibility of using Montenegro’s Port of Bar to handle grain and other agricultural products destined for European markets. The issue was discussed during a visit by Kazakhstan’s ambassador to the port and meetings with its management.

The sides considered opportunities to use Montenegro’s transport and logistics infrastructure to develop cargo flows between Kazakhstan, the Western Balkans and Central European markets.

Particular attention was given to the potential role of the Port of Bar as a logistics hub within the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Grain handling, container shipments and the use of storage infrastructure were also discussed.

Kazakh companies could potentially participate in joint logistics projects with the Port of Bar. Possible areas of cooperation also include investment in terminal and storage infrastructure.

No specific handling volumes, launch dates or economic parameters have yet been determined. The sides agreed to continue working contacts and assess the feasibility of potential projects.
