Kazakhstan begins harvest with high crop yields

Kazakhstan has launched its nationwide harvest campaign, with farmers already working in the Almaty, West Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Kostanay, Kyzylorda, North Kazakhstan and Turkistan regions, as well as the Zhetysu Region and the city of Shymkent. Early results indicate strong harvesting progress and significantly higher yields compared to the same period last year.

So far, farmers have harvested 634 thsd tons of grain crops, while the average yield has reached 20.6 c/ha, nearly 1.7 times higher than the 12.2 c/ha recorded on the same date a year earlier.

Wheat remains the main crop, with production already totaling 461.2 thsd tons. The average wheat yield has reached 19.1 c/ha, compared with 13.7 c/ha last year. Barley harvesting is also showing strong results, with 157.8 thsd tons collected and an average yield of 17.0 c/ha, almost double last year’s 8.7 c/ha.

Kazakh farmers are fully equipped for the harvest campaign. Agricultural enterprises across the country operate nearly 134 thsd tractors, more than 5.6 thsd high-capacity seeding complexes, 71.4 thsd seeders, and 188.5 thsd tillage implements.

To support timely harvesting, the government has allocated around 401 thsd tons of subsidized diesel fuel, helping farmers maintain a high pace of fieldwork.
