Jordan returns to wheat purchases after a two-month break
Jordan’s state grain buyer MIT has returned to the international wheat market after a break of more than two months. In a tender held on August 18, the country purchased around 60 thsd tons of milling wheat of optional origin.
CHS won the tender with the lowest offer at $318.95/t C&F. Delivery of the purchased wheat is scheduled for the first half of October 2026.
Several other major international traders also participated in the tender. Olam offered wheat at $324.5/t C&F, Bunge at $337/t and Cargill at $339.8/t. CHS therefore undercut the nearest competing offer by more than $5/t.
The purchase was MIT’s first successful wheat deal in more than two months. Jordan’s previous successful international wheat tender was held on June 9.
Jordan’s return to the international market follows a prolonged pause in purchases. The latest deal will provide the country with an additional 60 thsd tons of milling wheat for delivery at the beginning of the next quarter.
