Jordan cancels wheat tender, issues new one
Jordan’s state grain buyer made no purchase in an international tender to import 120,000 metric tons of milling wheat that closed on Monday, European traders said. Five trading houses participated in the tender: CHS, Cargill, Ameropa, Olam and Louis Dreyfus.
Separately, Jordan has issued a new wheat tender. The deadline for offers is set for June 23, with shipment still expected in September–October.
Amman’s decision may reflect an attempt to secure more favorable pricing following a preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which pushed oil prices lower and softened global grain benchmarks, strengthening expectations among importers of improved purchasing conditions.
