Iran to repair sugar factories in Cuba
The Iranian-Cuban business forum in Tehran discussed plans to reconstruct and optimize 160 Cuban cane sugar factories.
Farshad Mokimi, Director General of the Iranian Organization of Small Enterprises and Industrial Parks, said that feasibility studies for the project have already begun, and the expected results will soon be available to Iranian companies.
Mokimi also mentioned that after the visit of Cuban delegations to Iran in November 2023, negotiations were held, including on the export of agricultural products, fertilizers, and pesticides to Cuba.
Over the past decades, sugar production in Cuba has declined significantly, falling from 7 million tons in the 1980s to 480 thousand tons in 2022, which was facilitated by US sanctions.
