Iran noticeably increased wheat purchases from Kazakhstan
January Kazakh wheat exports totaled 404 KMT (-29% from December, +102% from January 2019/20), UkrAgroConsult reports. 2.65 MMT had been exported this season (+28% y-o-y).
In MY 2020/21, Iran started buying Kazakh wheat as late as December, but the purchased volume is already 11 times as high as last year.
Among major importers, only Turkmenistan reduced purchases compared to the same period last year (–79%). Other buyers increased imports: Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, China and the EU.
